About the Event
Join us for our first SCIFA Club quarterly hands-on workshop! SCIFA Club is a free educational program for students aged 12-20 that are interested in science careers to get resume building experience through periodic workshops and mentorship with biology professionals. We will meet at the Tree Hill Nature Center to get signed in and have dinner together. Participants will then join our SCIFA mentors on an evening road cruise to look for a variety of reptiles and amphibians found in the Jacksonville area. If we are able to find some snakes, we will also teach participants some biological sampling techniques. We will discuss the biology and ecology of the species we find and teach you about road cruising field survey techniques. SCIFA mentors attending this event will be Megan Grams and Tiffany Bright from the Rattlesnake Conservancy.
Required items for this workshop:
- Closed toed shoes
- Comfy clothes appropriate for the evening weather
